Update on New Skilled Occupation List 2014-2015

updateThe Assistant Minister for Immigration, the Hon Michaelia Cash, has announced that “no existing occupations are being removed from the SOL.”

What occupations will be on the new Skilled Occupation List (SOL) from 1 July 2014?

UPDATE!  New SOL 2014-2015 Announced:  VIEW THE NEW SKILLED OCCUPATION LIST 2014-2015

This announcement will come as a relief to many Accountants, IT Professionals & Analysts and Engineers who were concerned their occupation may be removed.

It is understood that the following occupations will remain:

  • Chemical and Materials Engineers
  • Electronics Engineers
  • Other Engineering Professionals
  • ICT Business and Systems Analysts
  • Software and Applications Programmers
  • Telecommunications Engineering Professionals

The SOL is used for people applying for certain points tested visas or temporary graduate (subclass 485) – graduate work stream visa. Before prospective migrants can apply for independent skilled migration, they must submit an expression of interest via SkillSelect.
