NSW State Sponsorship List announced for 2018-2019

The NSW Government has announced the new 2018-2019 NSW State Sponsorship List which has come into immediate effect.

The new 2018-2019 NSW State Sponsorship List has come into effect. Numerous occupations feature on the list including in the finance, education, ICT, health and trades industries.

What is state sponsorship?

If you are successful in obtaining sponsorship from the NSW Government, you may be eligible for an additional 5 Points on the Skilled Migration Points Test. You will also receive an invitation to apply for a state-sponsored subclass 190 visa without needing to wait to be invited by the Minister for Immigration.

Why use state sponsorship?

State sponsorship has many benefits including:

  • additional 5 Points on the Skilled Migration Points Test;
  • streamlined processing times; and
  • no need to wait for an invitation from the Minister for Immigration.

What are the obligations of NSW state sponsorship?

A successful NSW state sponsorship applicant under the subclass 190 visa category is required to live in NSW for the first 2 years after approval of their visa. They can live anywhere within NSW.

NSW is one of the few states that do not require a current job offer to be eligible for a state sponsorship visa.
