Unique to South Australia, the Chain Migration Pathway enables applicants who have an immediate family member living in South Australia to apply for State Migration with concessions.
What is Chain Migration?
If your grandfather, grandmother, father, mother, brother or sister permanently resides in South Australia, you can apply for State Sponsored Migration from South Australia with concessions.
Your immediate family member must be an Australian Permanent Resident or Australian Citizen.
They must have lived in South Australia for the last 12 months.
What concessions are available?
Chain Migration applicants are permitted to apply for occupations listed on the South Australian Graduate List as well as ‘special conditions apply’ occupations on the South Australia State Occupation List.
If you meet Immigration SA’s work experience criteria, international student graduates can also apply for a Subclass 190 or Subclass 489 visa for any occupation on the South Australia State Occupation List.
Do I still need to meet other State Sponsorship criteria?
Yes, you will still need to meet all DIBP and Immigration SA criteria. However, you are able to nominate a broader number of occupations.
State Migration is a great pathway to obtain Permanent Residency in Australia. In exchange for your commitment to live in South Australia for two years after visa grant, you get 5 bonus points on the Skilled Migration Points Test. You also receive expedited processing of your visa application by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection.
