The Department of Immigration and Border Protection and the Australian Customs Service will merge into one Department on 1 July 2015, forming the Australian Border Force. The Visa Application Charges (VACs) will increase on the same date.

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship has announced the new Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold effective 1 July 2013 to be A$53,900. This is relevant for subclass 457 visas where the market salary rate must be above the TSMIT.
Also commencing today are the new visa pricing arrangements. The new visa pricing system incorporates application fees for first onshore temporary visas and additional applicants.
