Following the release of the 2013-2014 Federal Budget, we have some figures for available visa places in the coming financial year.
First up, there will be 128 550 places for skilled migrants, 60 885 places for family migration and 565 places for migration under special eligibility. This keeps the skilled migration level at the same level as for 2012-2013, except for some 700 places being shifted to the family migration program.
The overall migration program will remain capped at 190,000 places.
Employer nominated migration will remain at the forefront of the migration program, according to Mr Brendan O’Connor, the current Minister for Immigration.
