New Visa Application Charges start 1st July 2013

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship will be introducing additional fees for many Australian visas.  These new charges include additional dependent charges and subsequent temporary entrant charges, and commence for applications lodged on or after 1 July 2013.

New Skilled Occupation List takes effect from 1 July 2013

umaservices_immigration_new_sol2013The Department of Immigration and Citizenship has unveiled the new Skilled Occupation List (SOL), also known as Schedule 1 of the Consolidated Skilled Occupation List (CSOL).  The new SOL will take effect on 1 July 2013, affecting the eligibility of certain independent and family sponsored skilled migration visas.

Last invitation rounds for this Migration Year

The two invitation rounds scheduled for 3 June and 17 June 2013 will be the last SkillSelect invitation rounds for the 2012-2013 Migration Year.

On 1 July 2013, the new migration year will commence, resetting occupation ceiling caps and also introducing the annually revised Consolidated Skilled Occupation List.

SkillSelect May 2013 – 2000 invitations up for grabs

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship has announced there will be up to 2000 invitations issued over the two May 2013 SkillSelect rounds.

Invitations issued by the Department of Immigration for Subclass 189 and Subclass 489 do not include those visas under State Sponsorship categories, such as the Skilled Nominated visa Subclass 190.

SkillSelect March 2013 Invitation Rounds – 2000 invitations up for grabs

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship has announced there will be up to 2000 invitations issued over the two March 2013 SkillSelect rounds.

Invitations issued by the Department of Immigration for Subclass 189 and Subclass 489 do not include those visas under State Sponsorship categories, such as the Skilled Nominated visa Subclass 190.

Closure of General Skilled Migration Visa Applications

On 1 January 2013, the department ceased accepting any new applications for the following visas:

  • Skilled – Sponsored (Residence) Visa (Subclass 886)
  • Skilled – Independent (Residence) Visa (Subclass 885)
  • Skilled – Regional Sponsored (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 487)

This facilitates the transition to SkillSelect Visas, Australia’s new system for selecting skilled migrants.
